Portrait of rov14, founder and engineer based in Nairobi

Founder, engineer, and product builder working on systems, infrastructure, and ideas that matter. I'm interested in technology, institutions, entrepreneurship, and the discipline of building with depth.

Founder at Boya

Now
  • Building Boya — corporate finance infrastructure.
  • Exploring platform engineering and financial systems.
  • Mentoring engineers, a few at a time.
  • Writing selectively, publishing less than I write.

Mentorship & Training

DevOps · Systems Design · Platform Engineering · Reliability

I work with developing engineers through practical, production-oriented training built around systems thinking, ownership, failure, and real engineering constraints.

Rather than polished testimonials, I keep the feedback close to the source. 2025 / 2026 engineering cohorts.

Principles

How I try to work, stated plainly.

01

Build things that should exist

Necessity is a better brief than opportunity. Start from the gap, not the market.

02

Let the work speak first

Narrative should trail evidence. If it leads, something is missing behind it.

03

Pursue depth over appearance

Understanding a system fully is slower and almost always worth it.

04

Stay practical

Ideas earn their keep when they survive contact with an operating reality.

05

Keep ambition grounded in conviction

Scale is a consequence. Conviction is the thing you can actually hold on to.

06

Choose substance over noise

Fewer things, done to a standard you would defend in private.
